Buying a little death in Thailand

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

In Thailand, you can abandon your troubles and start anew for a few dollars with the help of some monks, a white sheet and a coffin. It's the easiest death and rebirth I've ever seen.

On this piece, I edited footage from a freelancer around voice over supplied by Seth Mydans, the author of the story, which can be found here:

Protesting the Olympic torch in Hong Kong

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

After a marathon sprint, ample footage of the Olympic torch protests and one energetic demonstrator in Hong Kong has been turned into 2 minutes and 38 seconds of video journalism.

I shot and edited the video. I also performed all of the interviews, and provided the voice over. Jonathan Magee refined the voice over script, and provided insight into the overall assembly of the story; he also shot footage that we ended up not using for the sake of brevity and focus.

It ran on The New York Times in addition to the International Herald Tribune.

Video work at the New York Times

Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
VideoI spent a week training at the New York Times in preparation for my Web producer job with the International Herald Tribune.

The work included feasting on the knowledge of the very talented video guru and storyteller Craig Duff.

Craig took me and another trainee, Archie Tse, on a mission to capture the 2,000th performance of the Nutcracker by the New York City Ballet.

If you've ever wondered how the Sugar Plum Fairy manages her graceful, tip-of-the-toe glide across the stage, check out the video here to see the magic revealed.
